Potential Layout of Marvel Land Revealed?

Marvel Land layout provided by WDWNT

Okay so we may have our first look at the layout of Marvel Land coming to California Adventure next year. This image is provided by WDWNT and shows the outline of where the Spider-man attraction and the rest of the experiences are supposed to go. Let’s take a look at each of these experiences one at a time.

So the Spider-man ride is definitely placed correctly and it looks like the queue will be in the former tissue box building and surrounding area. Next up is where the Ant-Man Microbrewery is supposed to go and based on the latest Fresh Baked construction update, I would say that this new steel under construction looks to match the proposed design of the brewery.

Marvel Land construction image from Fresh Baked Disney

As you can see, there is lots of structural steel already up and in the coming weeks we can see exactly what this is going to be when Disney presents us with a model of the land at D23. Across the way from Spider-man is a gift store named WEB Suppliers which will be themed to the overall land. Adjacent to that is the Doctor Strange show which is anticipated to be like the current show on the Disney Cruise Line. The show on the cruise is a Jedi Training Academy style show themed to Marvel instead.

Last but not least is in my opinion the best part of this entire land because it foreshadows the future and that is the Avengers gift shop. Sure, it is just a plain ole gift shop but it will be themed to Avengers and its placement is exactly adjacent to where the rumored Avengers E-Ticket coaster is supposed to go for Phase 3 of Marvel Land. As a reminder Phase 1 was the transformation of Tower of Terror to Guardians of the Galaxy in 2017, this is now Phase 2 coming in 2020, and Phase 3 is supposed to come online by 2023.

THEME PARK WIZARD SUPPORTS ALS AND YOU CAN TOO!

The ALS Foundation of Southern California has a couple of events coming up that I would love to sponsor, especially since the sponsorship money goes to ALS to help research ways to fight this disease! My First Time at Midsummer Scream

So this past weekend I went to the Midsummer Scream Halloween Convention in Long Beach. It was my first time going and I had an absolute blast and will be attending every single year from now on. Midsummer Scream is a relatively new (3 or 4 years old) Halloween Convention and is where Universal and Knott’s have panels announcing their Halloween mazes.

My original intent was to go to the Knott’s Scary Farm panel, but I ended up missing it because I didn’t realize how much else there was to do there. The convention is separated into a few different parts. There is the Grand Ballroom, where all the biggest panels happen, and there are several smaller ballrooms where different events are happening at all times of the day. Then there is the main exhibition area will hundreds of vendors offering everything from masks to VR. Lastly, there is the biggest and in my opinion the best room in the convention called Hall of Screams. This room is entirely dark and eerie and resembles what you would see at Halloween Horror Nights and even has six mini mazes for guests to go through.

All in all, I must say I had a wonderful time and cannot wait to go back next year. Have you been to Midsummer Scream? Let me know your thoughts below about your experience and be sure to click the follow button and share this article!

Universal Orlando Announces 4th Theme Park: Epic Universe!

Well Universal teased all of us with a huge announcement for Thursday and it finally came. Universal announced their fourth gate in Orlando and it is going to be called Epic Universe. Universal took a jab at Disney during the press conference stating, “That a universe is bigger than a world” and quite a universe it is with multiple theme parks and multiple hotels and entertainment options. This new complex will be located on 750 of the 1,000 acres Universal purchased last year. This new property is located a few miles south of the existing resort which leaves me wondering if Universal will install some sort of transportation option between the two complexes.

Map of Universal Orlando Resort

I have a piece of concept art here with all of the rumored worlds labeled and I would like to break it down completely in sections below for you.

Concept art of Epic Universe and proposed worlds

THE HUB

As soon as you enter the park you will be on the main central spine of the park which is called the Hub. This area looks beautiful with lots of water features and even up by the hotel is a World of Color style amphitheater show which looks to be very cool. There is also lots of glass and a couple large glass enclosures which I think can fit a ride or restaurant or just large gift shop. There are two pathways guests can take one for the right side of the park and one for the left side of the park.

THE HOTEL

One of my favorite things about this new park is that Universal is taking a cue from Disneyland Paris and Tokyo DisneySEA with the addition of a in-park hotel. By this concept art, it looks like the hotel is interacting and part of the architecture of the park. Not much is known about the height or how many rooms the hotel has, but I am guessing it is plenty of rooms since it looks truly massive.

SUPER NINTENDO WORLD

This is the world everyone knows the most about thanks to it coming to other Universal Parks around the world. Orlando’s version will include all three rides which include Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Coaster, and Yoshi dark ride.

CLASSIC MONSTERS WORLD

This is a very cool addition to the park in my opinion. The whole world is set in 1930’s Europe and it will be so awesome to walk around in that setting. Two things to note about this world, Dracula and the stadium. Based on previous documents submitted to the City of Orlando last year, there will be a replica of Dracula’s castle with an ultra immersive dark ride to be inside, which I will be looking forward to immensely. The other thing to note is the giant stadium that is attached to the world. To be honest, this is the last place I would expect this large of a stadium, but it leaves me excited for the potential nighttime monster entertainment that we can get out of this stadium.

FANTASTIC BEASTS

This world is bound to be ultra popular considering how successful the various Harry Potter lands are across the world. This world is very urban (1900’s New York) and the facades are at least five stories high so it feels like you will be very immersed in the world. Next to the paths and shops are either one very large or two massive show buildings no doubt hosting some very immersive ride technology similar to the other Harry Potter rides. I am super excited to see what rides those will be.

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON

Last but not least, there is the How to Train Your Dragon World which includes a couple coasters and some fantastic water features. The main attraction here seems to be two dueling roller coasters (yellow and blue track) that potentially could be to racing dragons through the forest. Just below those coasters seems to be a smaller coaster that goes by the water features and looks to be more child friendly.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

I think this is going to be an amazing park and will be the park of the future and I am excited to go and visit in a few years. I am also excited about the potential expansion areas (Forested green areas near worlds) and what IP will go there or if Nintendo or Fantastic Beasts will be expanded.

What are your thoughts on the new park and complex? Let me know below and please like and share this article to your social media pages! Thank you!

Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Expansion Coming Soon?

Looks like the success of Oga’s Cantina at Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge has Disney green lighting an early expansion to the land. Disney has reportedly green lit the sit down restaurant with live entertainment that was originally scheduled to open with the land.

Concept Art for the sit down restaurant

This restaurant was rumored to have tons of capacity and a live stage show as entertainment while earthlings eat.

Concept Art of Stage

I think that this is a much needed addition to Galaxy’s Edge as reservations for Galaxy’s Edge fill up within a couple hours of opening each day at Disneyland and I would assume even more so when the Hollywood Studios version opens up later this month.

So what do you guys think about this potential addition? Do you welcome it? Would you go eat there? Pantheon Coming to Busch Gardens Williamsburg in 2020

Busch Gardens Williamsburg yesterday announced that their 2020 addition will be a record breaking multi launch coaster.

This coaster will be the fastest multi launch coaster in America reaching 72 mph and feature a 95 degree drop. It will be 180 feet tall and and over 3,000 feet of track. Each launch will have varying speeds of 30, 50, 61, and 67 mph. On the 61 mph launch riders will be sent backwards! Imagine that, going 61 mph backwards, now that is pretty intense! There will be two trains with a capacity of twenty people each and the ride is only about two minutes long so hopefully the lines won’t be too long.

Below is the layout for the all new coaster.

Sea World entertainment (which owns the Busch Gardens brand) is making 2020 a full on coaster year with plans for new coasters at Sea World parks in Orlando, San Diego, and San Antonio as well as new coasters such as an RMC conversion of Gwazi at Busch Gardens Tampa.

What do you think of this brand new record setting coaster? What do you think of all of the other coasters Sea World has planned? Let me know in the comments below and keep reading for a special theme park offer!

Universal Orlando Set For Major Announcement Thursday

Well well well, Universal is steaming full speed ahead on projects all over the world. Those projects include Super Nintendo World in Japan, Hollywood, and Florida (We will get to Florida in a second). Other major projects are a brand new theme park in a brand new market Beijing set to open in 2021, details here. In Hollywood they just opened Jurassic World and in Orlando they just opened Volcano Bay and an associated resort hotel not too long ago.

Volcano Bay

Currently in Orlando they are working on a yet to be announced Jurassic Park roller coaster and a yet to be announced THEME PARK. That’s right folks after just opening Volcano Bay and still working on a new Beijing park, Universal is going full steam ahead in Orlando with a massive expansion.

Either the Jurassic Park coaster or the new theme park will be announced Thursday, but I have a big hunch that it will be the new theme park considering in a tweet today Universal said they have an EPIC announcement. One of the rumored new names for the park is EPIC WORLD’S, so Universal could be providing us with clues as to their announcement and name of the park for Thursday. Stay tuned for a massive video and blog post on this subject and the announcement.

Proposed Brazil Pavilion in Epcot

It is being heavily rumored that during the “Epcot Transformation” panel at D23 there will be a brand new Brazil pavilion announced for the World Showcase. According to Jack from the very reliable DSNY Newscast, insiders have alerted him that Disney has received a sufficient amount of funding from Brazil to proceed on construction on the new pavilion relatively soon. Not much is known about what is going in the new pavilion yet, it is not though there will not be any new attraction.

So what do you guys think about this potential new addition to the World Showcase? Comment your thoughts below!

Universal Studios Hollywood: Construction Photo Update

Universal Studios Hollywood

Welcome to a brand new segment here on this blog and that’s right it features construction updates. Expect updates from mostly Disney and Universal as I have passes to those parks so I am able to go way more often than any other SoCal theme park. Today we are going to take a look at my Universal Studios Hollywood trip from last Friday where I went into the park to check out Halloween Horror Nights (HHN), Secret Life of Pets (SLOP), Super Nintendo, and Jurassic World construction, so let’s get right to it!

Halloween Horror Nights

There are two visible HHN sites under construction at this time. There is one on the upper lot by SLOP and there is another one hidden behind Mummy that you can see as you go down the Starway escalators.

I have not seen any rumors online about what the Upper Lot maze will be, but it is highly rumored that the maze near Mummy will be Killer Clowns From Outer Space. This seems to be correct because the front of the maze looks like a Circus tent.

Secret Life Of Pets

This ride has seen tons of progress over the past few months with the entire show building just about enclosed and work is rapidly progressing on the front facades of the attraction.

Scaffolding is down on most of the building
Peeking through the scrim, you can see work on the facades taking shape
More facade work on what will be the grand entrance of the attraction

I think this will be a wonderful addition to the park as it is rumored to have little to no screens. It is rumored to be an omnimover or track based dark ride. It is hard to see through the scrim on camera, but in person you can see they are working on each show scene on the second level of the attraction.

Jurassic World

This area has really shaped up to be so beautiful and so much of an improvement from what was there previously. The remodeled Jurassic Cafe and Jurassic Outfitters fits a very modern vibe and the new Isla Nu-Bar is a great beverage option. Universal should be announcing an opening date any day now for this revamped attraction.

New Jurassic World Logo
Great beverage options at Isla Nu-Bar
New signage at Jurassic Outfitters
Jurassic World Ride and DinoPlay Signs
Brand new Raptor Encounter

I also love the new grey and blue color tones painted around the area to match the aesthetic of the movies. If you would like to see a full walk around of the area plus Jurassic World testing and a close up of the boats, then click this link.

Super Nintendo World

Lastly, we come to Super Nintendo construction which is rapidly progressing, but the area and show building are so large it is hard to see the progress because there is just so much to be done.

View from the Starway, the crane is the site of Mario Kart
Closer view of Mario Kart
Foundation work for Mario Kart attraction
Mario Kart work
You can tell from the height of the stair case it will be a 5 story building
Lastly, here is the new extended queue for Transformers which should be opening soon

So that is it guys, I really hope you enjoyed my first photo update and want me to do more! Comment below what you think of all the Universal Studios construction and keep reading for some special offers on your next vacation!
