Knott’s Scary Farm 2020 Cancelled!

It was just announced today that Knott’s Berry Farm has decided to cancel its haunt event for 2020. There was some hope it could happen due to them doing Taste of Knotts and still erecting haunted house facades, but unfortunately that is not the case.

Six Flags is still looking to do a modified version of Fright Fest in some markets so we shall see how that goes! What do you guys think of this decision?

Disneyland Will Be Allowed to Open in Stage 3 of California’s Reopening

Gov. Newsom has announced today that forty-seven of the fifty-eight counties in California are now able to enter Phase One of Stage 3. This initial phase includes hair salons, barbershops, in-store retail, and religious services.

In those counties if hospitalizations and ICU numbers are stable or decreasing, they can move further into Stage 3. Deeper into Stage 3, higher risks services like movie theaters and theme parks will be able to reopen. That includes Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, Knott’s, Legoland, Sea World, Universal Studios Hollywood, and Six Flags Magic Mountain. This also includes all water parks and theme parks in Northern California.

So far Disney has not announced a date about when any of the Disneyland Resort will be open, nor have any of the other theme parks announced reopening dates. Stay tuned to this blog for continuing updated information!

Knott’s Berry Farm Records Record Attendance This Year!

Cedar Fair parks and particular Knott’s Berry Farm are having a record year attendance wise. Due to good weather days and loads of entertainment such as Knott’s Summer Nights and Ghost Town Alive and the debut of Calico River Rapids people have been flocking to Knott’s while Disney debuted Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge and saw a 3% decline in attendance.

The record attendance is expected to continue as today Knott’s announced a new attraction, Knott’s Bear-y Tales, that will be coming in 2020. That new attraction plus Summer Nights, Ghost Town Alive, and all of the planned entertainment for the 100th Anniversary, Knott’s will be smashing attendance records for years to come it seems.

What do you think of the record attendance? Did you visit Knott’s this year? Are you planning to visit for the 100th Anniversary entertainment and attractions? Let me know in the comments below!

Cedar Point is Teasing a New 2020 Addition

Following on the footsteps of Knott’s new 2020 teaser announcement, Cedar Point is now teasing their own new addition for their 150th Anniversary next year. No major construction is happening at the moment so it is safe to say it will not be a major new addition such as a record breaking roller coaster.

Just because it will not be a major roller coaster does not mean that this new addition won’t be exciting. Cedar Fair is partnering with Triotech for Knott’s so maybe a new or revamped dark ride will be coming to Cedar Point as well. Also there could be a new family coaster coming because those do not take as long to build as the major coasters.

The announcement did mention a river though and that is very interesting as Cedar Point could be revamping their river rafting ride like Knott’s did last year. Not much else is known about this teaser, but expect to find out much more on both new Cedar Fair attractions in a couple weeks at IAAPA.

Knott’s Berry Farm Celebrates 100 Years in 2020!

Knott’s Berry Farm Skyline

Next year Knott’s Berry Farm will celebrate its 100th anniversary by having, “A Knott’s Family Reunion”. This will be one of the summer long promotions Knott’s does so very well and will pay tribute to Walter Knott and his family.

According to Cedar Fair, guests will be immersed in a once in a lifetime celebration that will include lots of festive decor, themed food and merch, plenty of entertainment, and more! Knott’s will release more details about this event as summer 2020 draws closer. I would personally expect by spring break they will have more information. If you have been to Knott’s previous summer events such as Ghost Town Alive and Knott’s Summer Nights, you know that Knott’s does an EXCELLENT job with all of their summer promotions so look for this one to be better because it is their 100th Anniversary promotion.

Also if you think that this is all they are going to do for their 100th, then you are certainly mistaken. Look for a massive expansion of a Ghost Town including multiple rides and a coaster to come for the 2021 season and to actively be under construction during 2020.

My First Time at Midsummer Scream

So this past weekend I went to the Midsummer Scream Halloween Convention in Long Beach. It was my first time going and I had an absolute blast and will be attending every single year from now on. Midsummer Scream is a relatively new (3 or 4 years old) Halloween Convention and is where Universal and Knott’s have panels announcing their Halloween mazes.

My original intent was to go to the Knott’s Scary Farm panel, but I ended up missing it because I didn’t realize how much else there was to do there. The convention is separated into a few different parts. There is the Grand Ballroom, where all the biggest panels happen, and there are several smaller ballrooms where different events are happening at all times of the day. Then there is the main exhibition area will hundreds of vendors offering everything from masks to VR. Lastly, there is the biggest and in my opinion the best room in the convention called Hall of Screams. This room is entirely dark and eerie and resembles what you would see at Halloween Horror Nights and even has six mini mazes for guests to go through.

All in all, I must say I had a wonderful time and cannot wait to go back next year. Have you been to Midsummer Scream? Let me know your thoughts below about your experience and be sure to click the follow button and share this article!
