Sea World San Diego announced via an Instagram post that Emperor will officially be opening in Spring 2020. Emperor will be the tallest Dive Coaster on the West Coast and will feature several inversions. The track work is complete and work on the chain for the lift hill and station is proceeding at the moment with testing expected to begin in the next couple of weeks. Last Friday was your last opportunity to ride Wild Arctic at Sea World San Diego. The simulator ride was 25 years old and is rumored to be replaced by a family multi launch coaster. The Wild Arctic exhibits are staying though and will hopefully even get a refresh.
This new coaster is rumored to open in 2021 and be a family launch coaster similar to Wavebreaker at Sea World San Antonio. This coaster will have a max height of 30 feet and have a speed around 42 mph. Below are the proposed plans for the coaster.
We should see construction start sometime in the Spring right after Emperor opens as this coaster will be built in the current staging area for Emperor. So I would expect demo to occur on the former ride for the next few months until Emperor opens sometime in April or May.

Everyone please welcome Emperor to Sea World San Diego. Yesterday at IAAPA Sea World announced the new name for their 2020 Dive Coaster. The reason for the name change is that this coaster will not be anywhere near the shark encounter and thus thematically would not make any sense.
The new coaster is close to the arctic exhibit though and that is the home of the Emperor Penguin species that this coaster is named after. It thematically makes sense because Emperor Penguin’s can dive up to 1,800 feet deep in the ocean when searching for prey.

Track has started to appear for Mako coming to Sea World San Diego early next year. Mako is apparently not the final name for the project as the coaster does not sit close to the shark encounter at all. It is expected that Sea World will give us a final name and official update at IAAPA next month. Meanwhile, lovely light blue flat straight and turn pieces have begun appear at the site.

Pieces for the new Icebreaker coaster have arrived on site at Sea World Orlando. Lots of curved orange pieces arrived today on flatbed trucks in preparation for installation soon in Orlando adding to their already impressive coaster roster.
